FXR90 Limitations and Differences Between Zebra IOT Connector and RFID3 API

When connecting Zebra FXR90 readers, the feature set and performance can differ depending on whether you use the Zebra IOT Connector (ZIOTC) or the RFID3 API (API3). This article will cover the major categories in which these differ and where limitations may be.

GPI (General Purpose Input)

• API3: Supports multiple inputs and allows the hardware to handle events directly, which results in very fast GPI triggers

• ZIOTC: Supports multiple inputs, but events must first be sent to ClearStream (CS) to activate the scanner. This causes a slight delay compared to API3

GPS

• API3: Not supported

• ZIOTC: Supported with the FXR90

Directionality

• API3: Not supported

• ZIOTC: Supported with the ATR7000

Tag Buffering

• API3: Supported only when using ClearStream On-Board

• ZIOTC: Supported
